home ownership--week 1

so it's been about a week now that i've been a home owner (though it seems like light years...) all in all it's been a good week, though one of the busier ones i've had in a long time. besides working at the house, i also had plenty to do with school (aka professional development classes, "future dragons" night [lots of fun], conferences, etc.) consequently there's been a few late mornings these days--pretty soon i think my body will revolt and just make me crash and burn at 8pm...

work at the house has been slow, but continuous. i feel like we are chugging along, albeit slower than what i might like. we are still focusing most of our work on the upstairs--bathrooms and bedrooms. i went and picked out paint on saturday, so we might be ready to start priming the bedrooms tomorrow. i think i am most excited about the painting right now; i think it will help me hold on to the vision of what this place is going to look like. it's been difficult at times to keep putting my all into the work that needs to be done, when i can't imagine how it will influence the end result. even with my nearsightedness, the Lord has still granted me the ability to keep working. i continue to be astounded at how hard my parents are working alongside me, even harder and longer than i am. they are always the first to get there and the last to leave. they are such a great example of how we can live out the gospel by dying to ourselves in order to serve others. i think too, that when we make that decision, God will bless us with the strength to complete our service and the time we need. my deepest worry is that my students will suffer for my lack of planning time, etc...but the Lord has been so gracious to help me find time, and given me generous parents who are willing to release me to do schoolwork. they deserve a big hug and then some when this is all finished!
