30 minutes from Poland

so now we're on the other side of Germany, about 30 minutes away from the Polish border, here in Hoyerswerda. You can really tell the difference between western Germany and the east. This area is less wealthy (fallback from the Communist regime), and those that can, move away to western Germany. However, we are staying in a really cool place (German version of the YMCA); I'm really looking forward to our concert tonight. Teh only recent thing to dampen our spirits is that our van was broken into two days ago. A few of us were spending the day in Koln, and when we came back to our van, we found a window smashed in, and some of our things stolen. We all lost something, and then had to spend two hours in the police station. Thankfully, Meghan was with us, so she was able to translate questions and answers for us. The frustrating thing is that, in many ways, we are now back to square one; our team laptop was one of the things stolen, so our presentations for programs and other information are now gone. Yesterday we had to drive through the night to our program here, since we had to spend the day waiting for the van window to be fixed. in any case, we have learned the hard way to be more cautious---the van will always be locked!
